I've somehow managed to scan and recycle what I estimate to have been more than 10,000 pages. I wish I had a "before" picture, but if you can imagine a six-foot tall stack of papers, you can imagine what it looked like a year ago. Today, it looks like this:
I'm shockingly proud of myself for having finished this exercise, which mostly felt like an exercise in futility as I was doing it. I never actually thought I'd get through it, but thanks to a rapid scanner at my new job, it took just under a year to complete.
I've been using the Konmari Method to clear out things at home, and I'm trying to embrace the principles of living in the moment, and letting go of who I used to be and who I hope to be in the future.
What's left: handwritten poems, a very few sentimental items.
