Prose: My prose style tends to be subtly casual journalism with a humanist bend. I love finding and telling the story of people's lived experiences beyond the news. That said, I can easily write in a variety of styles, and also have experience writing speeches, book pitches, press releases and academic work. Click here for a list of my nonfiction publications.
Poetry: I've been writing poems for as long as I can remember. I've come a long way since my very first broadside, a Christmas-themed poem with clip-art illustrations that Mrs. Colassaco, my fourth-grade teacher, says she still has in a frame in her house. After studying up on literature throughout college, I found my way back to creative writing and completed my MFA in poetry at NYU. You can read some of my published poems on my poetry page.
Podcasts: I am an experienced interviewer who is interested in hearing the stories that all humans have to tell. Usually, I help them tell their stories through my writing, but each month, I also host a podcast dedicated to book culture and the people who love it. To hear some of my podcast work, you can listen to my episodes of Late Night Conversation.
